This past Saturday, Aug. 13, we went on one heck of a good ride. It was to be the NO DESTINATION POKER RUN#2, BUT WITH ONLY A FEW BIKES SHOWING UP , WE JUST WENT FOR A 270+ MILE ride thru GA.,ALA., and TENN. We ate at the FALL CREEK FALLS STATE PARK restaurant and let me tell you. IT WAS GOOD. Buffet style with chicken, fish, chili(homemade) and desserts you would not believe. All you care to eat for less than $10.00. This old fat man was full when we left. Just wanted to lay down by the lake shore and go to sleep. I understand that with the economy like it is, money is exceptionally tight and family comes first. I'd think a lot less of anyone that let family go hungry just so they could ride. Next year, if I'm still in this position with D1W as Activities Director, we will have one ride per month scheduled and any imprompto rides that come up will be on our own. I just want to say, we had a great ride and great eats, as far as I am concerned. Thanks for hearing me out. In answer to TONYAs comment from JULY 18, you are more than welcome. Our group tries to do right by all and leave them with a good impression of motorcycle riders. I hope his foot didn't get too much of a burn on it. He had his foot over the seat before I could get to him and the natural thing to do is reach for a resting spot. Until next time, be careful. If the government don't get us the cagers will .

For anyone thatwants to know, six of us went on the TRAIL OF TEARS ride to Oklahoma. Had a great time. Seven days, two monsoon rains and a brief thirty minute shower and the rest with 90-100 degree heat. All three bikes did what they were supposed to do and so did their riders, that's why all six of us got home without having to visit any of the graybars along the way. short trip to some of you and long for others, but a great ride.Over 1900 miles, four of us senior citizens and two youngens.
O.K. I HAVE BEEN HERE AND TITHER TRYING TO HOOK UP WITH MY A.B.A.T.E. DISTRICT ON FACEBOOK. IS THERE A SITE I CAN HAVE AS A "FRIEND" ON FACEBOOK? I HAVE BEEN TO TERRY SIMMONS SITE...BUT DID NOT SEE A "FACEBOOK" LINK SO I CAN JUST CLICK THE PIC AND "BE THERE". HELP...I AM LIKE FRANK...NO COMPUTER SAVVY. THANK YOU
Over the past six to eight months, a lot has been discussed about the direction of ABATE and our chapter . where do we go or do we stay? Well, after attending the last board of directors meeting,2-5-11, I think we should stay right where we are at and build for a better year ''WITH ABATE''. I saw alot of positives at this meeting and no negatives. as I have told everyone at our meetings, my wife Linda and I will stay ABATE members whether our chapter dissolves or not, because we believe in what they/we are trying to do. I honestly believe that if anyone wants to dissolve our chapter, they should forget about doing that and just drop their membership in the ''ONLY MOTORCYCLE RIGHTS GROUP FIGHTING FOR THEIR RIGHTS TO RIDE'' in the state of GEORGIA. it's like Jerry Mac from Thunder Roads magazine says, sell your bike if you don't want to fight for your rights to ride. Don't be a hitchhiker, do the driving, stay in ABATE and fight. This old fat man is one proud member of ABATE and you should be too. Most sincerely, Frank A. Chaney, Activities Director of the best damn chapter in ABATE
