This month’s profile is of someone who is probably the youngest Junior ABATE member in the State of Georgia.  His name is Dyer Clark Sansing and he is just 10 months old.  I read somewhere that you should start a child young and raise him in the way that he should go.  Some folks say that he is too young to be in ABATE, however, they have not seem him charm the ladies,,,,,,,,,,, they even fuss over who will get to change his diaper (you do it, no you do it).  Most children at this age will have the pleasure of sitting on someone’s knee and ‘riding a horsey’.  Not Dyer when his grandfather is around.  He gets to straddle paw paw’s knee and (with a little help) use paw paw’s thumb for a throttle to hear the ‘buddin buddin’ of the engine and ‘feel the engine vibration’.  Dyer is encouraged to hold on with both hands because safety comes first.  At present, he is not required to wear a helmet or safety vest while riding on Paw Paw’s knee but it is only because the legislatures have not thought of it yet.

Dyer is just now becoming mobile thanks to his walker.  This presents a small problem with his parents because he will go straight to the garbage can and turn it over.  Hey, at least he is not playing in the toilet!  See the silver lining.  Back to scoop on Dyer.  This young one is the youngest of five children (the oldest being 11 years old), and all of whom are Junior ABATE members.  Why, well, riding is somewhat a family tradition tracing all the way back to Dyers great grandfather (where the name Clark came from), who rode pre and post WWII until he was in his early seventies.  Dyer’s grandparents, Satan and Droopy Drawers (both ABATE members), still ride.  Dyer’s parents still love to ride, and Dyer also has an uncle who rides as well as a great-uncle (also an ABATE member), who rides.

I started talking about his charm earlier and kind of drifted away.  Sorry.  It has to be charm because he can get out of things and away with doing things that I would get a hard time for doing.  For instance, Dyer can eat a chocolate covered graham cracker and get it all over his face/clothes and the ladies will laugh, talk about how cute it is, take pictures, and clean him up.  If it were me with chocolate and cracker all over my face and clothes, I would be chastised let alone banned from having any more chocolate covered graham crackers!  The discussion would be held about how nasty I have become?!?!

Dyer can crap in his pants and the ladies will say “he did a ‘shoo shoo’ bless his heart” and proceed to clean it up while singing.  He can pee in his pant and the ladies will say “ooh baby is wet” and proceed to change his diaper.  Now at my age if I had a habit of doing ‘shoo shoo’s’ and/or peeing in my pants, I would get sent to the nursing home and never visited!  I wondered and wondered how he had developed such a charming personality to get away with such things and then it suddenly hit me,,,,,,,,,, it was inherited from his Paw Paw.  Dyer should be aware that the magic will eventually weaken and these tricks will not always be welcomed.

All joking aside, Dyer is a joy to be around.  Unknowingly he takes us back to a better time and place; a time when life was simple.  His innocence will make you question the aggression of nations and the hostilities of people.  His eyes will show you pure joy and even in the most simple things where laughter can be brought about by his playing with a sock that he has recently pulled from his foot.  The purity of this small child makes us question ourselves.

Meet Dyer, give him a chocolate covered graham cracker, you will have a story to tell and he will love you for it.  Dyer is the brother of Eden, Gabriel, Abby, and Jaime Sansing; the son of Jimmy and Autumn Sansing; and the grandson of Terry and Susan Simmons; the great-grandson of Clark and Rebecca Sosebee.

Our meetings are on the fourth Monday evenings at The Dari-Dip located on West Villanow St., LaFayette, GA .  Dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:30 p.m.  You do not have to be a member to come to our regular monthly meetings or go on our rides.  The letters "ABATE" stand for American Bikers Active Toward EducationFor more information about ABATE of Georgia and District 1 West, please visit out website:  http://www.gabated1w.com/

Membership Profile for February, 2010

at ABATE of GA, District 1 West

This month’s profile is of someone whom the young ladies may find very interesting,,,,,,,,, especially at this time of year for sweethearts and valentines.  It is of a young gentleman by the name of Patrick Charles Chase Malone who happens to be one of our very own Junior A.B.A.T.E. members.  Patrick resides in the Great State of Kentucky and is making quite a name for himself around the Mt. Washington area where he moved around 2001.

Now Mt. Washington has a population of approximately 12,000 and is in close proximity to Fort Knox and Louisville, KY.  This is a place that Patrick has displayed many attributes that parents love to see in their children and grandchildren.  One of the latest listings under the ‘Eagle Headlines’ in the Eastside Middle School Newspaper of Mt. Washington was dated 12-10-09 and for the congratulations to Patrick Malone for being accepted into the 2010 Bullitt County Middle School Honor Band, playing the Bass Clarinet.  By the way, this school just happens to be the ‘2008 National Schools to Watch Recipient’.  Patrick also has a guitar that he is learning to play and one of his favorite pass times is to engage World Tour on his wii system.

Patrick is very much a dedicated team player in football and baseball; however, his favorite sport is basketball.  This young athlete was listed twice in the Babe Ruth League Hall of Fame book.  At one ‘Home Run Derby’, Patrick won enough tickets for his family to attend a minor league baseball game featuring the Lexington, KY Legends and the Rome, GA Braves.

Hunting is also included as one of Patrick’s interest.  On one hunting trip with his dad Mike, brother Jason, and uncle Scott, Patrick sat and watched as the deer walked by.  At that point he had experienced what a lot of hunters that I know of have a problem doing,,,,,,,,,,seeing any deer!  I will have to ask more questions about this later.  Patrick also enjoys fishing with his grandfather.

This young man gets up ready to go----right to the table if his Nana’s around making breakfast.  I am told that he loves to eat his Nana’s cooking and that she has to cook every morning when they are together, (she still lives in Dalton, GA).  He even wants any leftover biscuits saved for later.  Takes a lot of fuel for a high powered machine!

Patrick enjoys school and is sometimes sad when the summer break comes.  He enjoys being with his friends and learning.  In fact, learning comes so natural that he rarely takes any books home for study.  With all of the skills and talents that Patrick has, you will still find him to be quiet, caring, and compassionate toward others.  He has a great love of family.

At the present, Patrick does not have a steady girlfriend because he is too busy and has too much to do.  A relationship at this point would demand too much of his time.  So for now he and the girls will have to be just friends and they will just have to patient.

Speaking of family; there is no better time than that spent on the motorcycle with his granddaddy.  I guess the calling from the spirit of the wind comes naturally to this young man considering the legacy of motorcycles and the family tree.  Great-grandfather, grandfather, grandmother, mother, and brother all share the love of the two wheel lifestyle and relish the bond of brotherhood.

The level of talents, skills, desires and dedication for family seems way beyond that of an ordinary 13 year old.  Yes, Patrick is quite a remarkable young man.  Patrick is the proud brother of Jason M. Malone; the proud son of Mike and Charlene Malone; and the proud grandson of Frank and Linda Chaney.

Meet Patrick, shake his hand, he has a story to tell.  Listen to what he has to say and you will walk away a better person.  Remember the name because you may see it in the big league and you can say you remember when………..
